Landscape garden design in Coppell

Project brief

Rocky Branch Revival – Coppell, TX

We recently breathed new life into a tired garden on Rocky Branch, transforming it into a vibrant, low-maintenance retreat. This full renovation featured native plantings for year-round color, custom stone pathways, and upgraded irrigation for effortless upkeep. The result? A stunning, sustainable landscape that blends seamlessly with the natural beauty of Coppell—designed to wow neighbors and welcome outdoor living.

To complete the transformation, we added layered lighting to highlight key features and create a warm, inviting atmosphere after dark. Thoughtful touches like seating nooks and pollinator-friendly blooms turned this once-overlooked yard into a true extension of the home—a place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of nature every day.

The results

Project summary…

This landscape overhaul was designed with grade and drainage as top priorities, given the challenging negative slope coming toward the house. While not visible in the photo, extensive groundwork was completed beforehand, including significant grade work and the installation of drain pipes to effectively redirect water away from the foundation.

The hardscape features Austin white chopped stone borders accented with substantial 750-pound limestone blocks that add both visual interest and structural definition. A welcoming flagstone path winds through the space, surrounded by Texas “black” gravel, while river rock accents provide additional texture throughout the design.

The planting scheme showcases hand-selected Monrovia specimens, including patriot hostas, dogwoods, autumn ferns, and oak leaf hydrangeas, chosen for their beauty and suitability to the site. To complete the transformation, existing pots were thoughtfully repurposed with proper drainage gravel, fresh potting soil, and an integrated drip irrigation system to ensure long-term plant health.
